‘The Lake of Dreams’ by Kim Edwards – 7/10
Most of the group found it hard to relate to the protagonist, but overall the novel was thought to be well written and the scenes describing events surrounding the suffragette movement very interesting.
‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt - 7/10
The characters in this book were not particularly likeable, but it is an interesting study of how the keeping of secrets can destroy relationships and even people’s lives. This book sparked much discussion about the consequences of not knowing where to draw the line of how much you should do to be accepted by a group.
